Apptix CEO David Ehrhardt oversees the overall direction of the company. The SaaS business certainly keeps Ehrhardt busy. But what is he up to outside of the office? Scroll through our slideshow for the answers, along with other fun facts.
EHRHARDT: Chicago/Doobie Brothers. I’m a big classic rock kind of guy (real classic, not the 80s/90s stuff my kids say is classic).
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: I see an 8-track player in your past.
EHRHARDT: Admission, Olympus Has Fallen, and Oz, the Great and Powerful – and that was just this past weekend! My wife and I see 1 to 2 movies a week.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Maybe I should get into the same habit. Too many people at Nine Lives Media (Talkin’ Cloud’s parent) speak in movie references, leaving me out of the loop. That’s just the trouble. Nobody wants me.
EHRHARDT: Apptix, of course. I’m really proud of everything we’ve been able to accomplish since I’ve joined the company.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Apptix provides hosted business communication, collaboration, and IT solutions to businesses of all sizes. It currently serves more than 20,000 customers.
EHRHARDT: Big Bang Theory – it’s just very quirky and fun. I don’t watch many shows, but those I do tend to be on the History Channel or otherwise fun oriented.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: History Channel. Classic.
EHRHARDT: After about a quarter of a million migrations to our services and talking to our customers, we realized that flexibility and easy migrations were the reasons that our mid-market and enterprise customers were choosing us. So we got the idea to focus on and refine those areas, and that’s been very successful.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: While yoga had nothing to do with the company’s last big idea, I thought it would be a visually satisfying way to express the company’s realization of flexibility.
EHRHARDT: iPhone 5.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: I’m guilty of owning one, but I’m not remorseful about it.
EHRHARDT: Okay, I could come up with some cool new app, but the real answer is a Bible App. I got tired of carrying around the family Bible as it is getting worn.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: I once witnessed a pastor using his iPhone to conduct a wedding ceremony…
EHRHARDT: Right now, I’m sending these responses through the premiere cloud-based Hosted Exchange email service that Apptix provides to nearly 400,000 users worldwide.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: That was a very clever way to promote your product. Touché.
