IBM Unveils New Big Data Service Built on SoftLayer Cloud Platform
IBM's (IBM's) Navigator on Cloud service enables users to search and access content quickly and securely.
IBM (IBM) yesterday announced a new big data service that is designed to make enterprise content more interactive and secure.
The service, IBM Navigator on Cloud, is built on the SoftLayer platform and allows organizations to access and manage content from anywhere and on any device, according to the company.
Navigator on Cloud “delivers the ease of use associated with consumer-oriented content management and file sharing applications without sacrificing security.”
IBM noted the big data service enables users to search and access content quickly and securely.
“With today’s news, IBM is fulfilling an unmet need in the marketplace by providing a new service that combines enterprise-grade security, governance and integration with mobile and web apps that are easy to interact with and use,” Doug Hunt, general manager of IBM’s enterprise content management (ECM) division, said in a prepared statement.
Navigator on Cloud allows users to:
Deliver custom content solutions
Leverage a highly extensible and consistent ECM experience platform
Take advantage of mobile and web content collaboration tools
IBM also noted Navigator on Cloud utilizes the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) application programming interface (API), which allows the company’s clients and partners to create new applications.
“The new cloud service from IBM will give IT staff, line-of-business managers and executives the ability to share critical business content and help drive collaboration across the organization,” said Richard Daley, director of records and information management at the Tejon Ranch Company (TRC).
Navigator on Cloud is available via the IBM Cloud marketplace.
