Optanix Broadens Network Monitoring Platform with Predictive Analytics, Hybrid Edition
Optanix is applying AI to its infrastructure and network monitoring service.

Optanix, a company that until recently described itself as an MSP for managed services providers, is branching out with a new AI-based, full-stack hybrid infrastructure performance-monitoring platform that provides business impact and service-infrastructure management.
In addition to offering deeper monitoring of IT infrastructure, including software-defined networks and SD-WAN, the company is offering the new Optanix Platform as an on-premises, server-based solution beyond its MSP customer base.

While Optanix will continue to offer its monitoring platform as a managed service to MSPs, the company is also now offering the on-premises software to enterprises, systems integrators and traditional solution providers seeking to offer their own managed services or those that run network operations centers (NOCs).
“We’re making it available in a new modality,” said Optanix chief strategy officer Edmond Baydian. “We have different options that we can offer to VARs and SIs that are looking to further enhance their own MSP businesses or potentially start, recurring revenue operations of their own outside of just reselling.”
Optanix was formed three years ago, when private equity firm Francisco Partners acquired ShoreGroup, a Cisco gold partner founded in 1999, and spun off the remote managed services and technology arm. Since the spinoff, New York-based Optanix has offered its network and infrastructure performance-management solution as a managed service to enterprises and other MSPs, primarily those that provide managed contact-center services and unified communications (UC).
The new Optanix Platform offers more extensive monitoring capabilities with new predictive analytics and the ability to provide root-cause analysis of performance issues, business service monitoring and remediation management.
Optanix claims the new platform offers real-time situational awareness of business services, which will prioritize performance issues based on the criticality of a business process. It also now includes a service infrastructure management layer, a cloud-based function that lets partners offer bidirectional, multitenant, secure remote access to customers that have streamlined workflows.
The service-provider function is designed to monitor performance issues across multiple locations and customers, according to the company. Set to role out in January, the company said its Optanix channel partners can offer it as a platform as a service (PaaS) or managed PaaS service, or as a remote management service.
“Based on their history and their strengths. I see a lot of potential,” said analyst and consultant Dennis Drogseth, a VP at Enterprise Management Associates. “They’re trying to evolve an analytics platform with their machine-learning capabilities. It’s still centered in infrastructure but it’s reaching into the application, and they’re trying to [bridge] the chasm that often exists between infrastructure and application awareness.”
Optanix isn’t shifting away from its MSP roots, but rather extending the technology into new opportunities, Baydian added.
“We’re making it available in a new modality,” he said.
