Thousands of managed services providers (MSPs) and VARs have embraced professional services automation (PSA) software. But there are thousands more who have yet to deploy PSA within their own companies. If you’re not sure what to do, here are five reasons why you’re absolutely not ready for professional services automation.They include:
You like client phone calls at midnight
Your operate from a van, down by the river
You’re afraid to find out your utilization rate
Your accountant recommended operating at a loss, to offset your track winnings
Your business runs just fine on a complicated system of white boards, spreadsheets, and color-coded sticky notes
All kidding aside, it’s time to say that “good enough” isn’t good enough anymore. Are you an IT hypocrite, recommending upgrades to your clients while you operate on 1990s systems? Do I recommend our software? Of course I do, but know that any PSA is better for your business and your sanity than no PSA at all.
I want the IT channel ecosystem to continue thrive. The only way our vendors will continue to sell through the channel is to stay viable, maintaining our strength and credibility. We are professionals, right? Show your clients, your staff, and the IT channel that you take your business seriously. It’s time to upgrade the most important client you have, your business.
If you don’t already understand the value of professional services automation tools, get educated. You will find that you can enjoy immediate improvements in time capture, cash flow, and service & dispatch. Further embracing PSA modules will drive efficiencies in Sales, Marketing, Agreements, and more. Third party integrations with managed services tools will make you wonder how you ever ran your IT practice without a business management solution. If you need a peer referral, just strike up a conversation at your next user group meeting or IT gathering. Chances are, your mentors have already chosen a platform and are eager to share their insights.
