6 Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) Lessons From August
MSPmentor compiled a list of top BDR and business continuity stories from the month of August. Here's what we found.
MSPmentor doesn’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but fall is right around the corner. While this is good news for those of us who enjoy the changing of the seasons, others–mainly those who live on the beach–are not giving in to mother nature (not just yet).
It’s that time of the month where we compile a list of our top backup disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity lessons lessons from the month. Top categories include selling BDR, nagging customers and the future of BDR.
If you don’t remember many BDR lessons from August, it’s all right. We did the work for you by going through our archive and pulling out our top posts.
Selling BDR: What you’re doing wrong (or what you’re doing right)
Selling BDR is a common topic we discuss on MSPmentor, mainly because it’s an area where MSPs frequently have questions. One of the main points we discussed this month was how important it is to listen first, talk second. Remember: You don’t know a customer’s pain points until it’s revealed–by them. Don’t go into a conversation believing you already have the answers.
BDR Customers: It’s not me, it’s you
Without sounding like your mother, play nice. Customers lash out at MSPs because they don’t understand the technology or what you do. That’s OK. (Do you understand their business? Probably not.) The most important thing to remember is that you’re not alone. All MSPs go through the same challenges with customers.
Not a psychic? Neither is MSPmentor, but here’s one opinion
MSPmentor can’t predict the future of BDR, and neither can our experts. But gathering insight from some of our readers might give us a place to start. They are, as you know, in the trenches every day.
If we missed one of your favorite BDR stories from August, let us know in the comments section below. Maybe we’ll add it into the bunch–but, no, we’re not changing the title to fit the list.
