Channel Surprise: LaPeters Leaves AT&T Cybersecurity for Malwarebytes
The carrier's acquisition of AlienVault was announced last summer and finalized last fall.
Cybersecurity vet Mike LaPeters has unexpectedly left AT&T Cybersecurity to head up channels at Malwarebytes, the developer of endpoint protection and remediation solutions.
LaPeters tendered his resignation as assistant vice president of worldwide channels; Friday was his last day. He is now Malwarebytes‘ vice president of worldwide MSP and channel operations.
Marcus Bragg, AT&T Cybersecurity’s vice president of sales, has been managing LaPeters and the company’s channel team for more than two years, and will be leading the partner program. Both LaPeters and Bragg were with AlienVault, which AT&T acquired last year.
LaPeters tells us his “passion” is helping growth-stage companies.
“I am excited about leveraging my experience with service providers (both MSPs and MSSPs) as well as the channel as a whole, and focusing it on the rapidly growing community that engages with Malwarebytes today,” he said. “The opportunity to build a program from the ground up is compelling.”
Bragg tells us AT&T Cybersecurity’s leadership team is “very excited about the second half of 2019.”
“In leading the go-to-market activities for AlienVault products and services for the past two-and-a-half years, executing on our channel strategy with our dedicated teams has been a key component of my role and our company’s growth,” he said. “We are fortunate to have a deep bench of regional leaders who work with our service providers day in and day out to achieve our joint goals.”
AT&T Cybersecurity’s partnerships with distributors, resellers and MSSPs is a critical part of the company’s go-to-market strategy, Bragg said.
“We will continue to deliver great cybersecurity products and services that allow our service providers and resellers to tailor their go-to-market offerings to their customers and look to support them as they grow their business,” he said.
LaPeters was AlienVault’s vice president of global channels.
He has been a speaker at Channel Partners Evolution and the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, addressing cybersecurity topics impacting MSPs and MSSPs. He also was inducted into the Channel Futures Circle of Excellence last fall.
Malwarebytes’ team of researchers and security experts provide protection to more than 60,000 businesses and millions of people globally, combating more than 8.8 million threats daily using AI and machine learning.
