Birst Announces $65 Million Investment Round. Birst has secured $65 million in funding; the cloud business intelligence (BI) and analytics provider now has raised $156 million to date. Wellington Management Company led the investment round and was joined by existing investors Sequoia Capital, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, DAG Ventures and Northgate Capital. Birst said it will use the funds “to strengthen its international presence, drive sales and marketing and invest in enhanced product capabilities.”
IBM Invests in Modernizing Medicine to Accelerate Adoption of Watson Technologies in Healthcare. IBM (IBM) has invested in Modernizing Medicine, a cloud-based, specialty-specific electronic medical records (EMR) systems provider. The IBM funding caps $20 million in Series D financing secured by Modernizing Medicine, raising its overall funding total to $49 million. Modernizing Medicine said its most recent funding will allow it to expand into new markets and update its solutions suite.
Reltio Raises $10M Series A Funding, Introduces Reltio Cloud. Reltio has secured $10 million in Series A funding from Crosslink Capital and .406 Ventures. The Palo Alto, California-based data management company also has unveiled the Reltio Cloud platform, which blends data-driven applications with data management capabilities to help businesses with planning, customer engagement and risk management.

Enterprise Collaboration Startup CollateBox Raises Around $180K Through LetsVenture. CollateBox has raised roughly $180,000 from a group of angel investors and Ten Innovate via crowdfunding platform LetsVenture. The cloud-based data storage and sharing platform provider said it will use the funds to accelerate its global expansion.
Collective Health Raises $38 Million to Scale Its Employer Health Insurance Business. Collective Health, which provides a cloud-based employer self-insurance platform, has added $38 million in Series B funding. Founders Fund and New Enterprise Associates led the funding round, with participation from Formation 8, Redpoint Ventures, RRE Ventures, Subtraction Capital and Rock Health. Collective Health noted that it will use the funds to enhance its self-insurance platform.
