It’s three years ago that chatter began about candidates who ultimately might succeed the iconic John Chambers as Cisco’s (CSCO) chief executive. Chuck Robbins' name inevitably appeared in the buzz, and Cisco named him to ascend to the helm of the networking vendor effective July 26 as Chambers moves to the executive chairman role.

Microsoft (MSFT) is said to be mulling over bidding for rival Salesforce.com after learning that another potential suitor approached the CRM provider, according to sources cited in a new Bloomberg report.

At the Ingram Micro 2015 Spring ONE conference this week, Ingram Micro (IM) took some tentative first steps toward upgrading the image of the channel by rebranding the Ingram Micro VentureTech Network (VTN), now known as the Trust X Alliance. Ingram Micro president Paul Bay said the distributor will invest marketing resources to promote the Trust X Alliance brand among end customers.
