Finding a case study can be useful to the MSP community, so compile one if you're able to find the time.

If you’re curious to find out how other managed services providers (MSPs) handle data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) scenarios, learn from the experience of others by reviewing case studies.

More and more businesses are publishing case studies on various topics, verticals and markets, but this doesn’t necessarily mean all published studies were created equally.

It’s important to pay close attention to the source of  a study: A case study may be slanted toward a specific outcome or result. Ask youself: What’s in it for the author of the study?

From there, take a glance at the outline. The average case study will contain four areas: the challenge, the solution, the results and the analysis of how the situation was handled.

Case studies should be short and to the point. An ineffective case study will make you feel as though you’re trying to get through a high school textbook.

An effective case study, on the other hand, should only take a few pages to get to the point of the study. It will also give just enough information, where readers will want to reach out to the author to learn more.

The conversation goes both ways, though. As an MSP, others in the commnity want to hear from you, learn from you and discuss scenarios with you. Put together your own case study and publish it on your company’s blog or website. You’ll never know where it may end up.
