Every distributor is clamoring to offer their VARs and partners some sort of cloud service or cloud training, and Arrow ECS is no exception. The distributor has just announced plans to help their resellers link up with IBM‘s cloud services, connecting the dots between IBM’s portfolio of cloud solutions with Arrow’s Fusion program. More details follow…

Arrow ECS is adding five of IBM’s cloud solutions to its Fusion Professional Services program (in North America only), providing a solid lineup for partners who are looking to provide cloud services, but don’t initially have a starting point.

Thanks to the new IBM partnership, Arrow ECS can now provide backup, security, storage, monitoring and infrastructure cloud solutions from IBM. Arrow ECS is also working IBM to give partners the additional option to offer migration services for IBM Power Systems. This opportunity provides partners with the tools to assist in migrating customers off legacy database systems and old IBM infrastructures into new future-ready cloud options, or simply upgrade customers to newer applications that exist in IBM’s cloud, IBM and Arrow claim.

This news comes just after a May 2011 initiative Arrow ECS launched with EMC, VMware and Brocade for bundled cloud solutions covering virtualization, storage and networking. Arrow ECS is smart to be eying the cloud more closely. Nearly every other big distributor has been gearing up their cloud offerings. Between Tech Data’s TDCloud, Ingram Micro’s Cloud and Avnet’s most recent cloud workshop, Arrow ECS’s partnership with IBM is key to maintaining competition.
