Avaya, Google Team With VMware in the Cloud

VMware continues to form partnerships for its vCloud Air cloud platform.

Avaya, for one, is offering its new enterprise-class hybrid cloud services for customer and team engagement via vCloud Air.

Designed to help enterprises bridge private and public clouds, Avaya’s Hybrid Engagement as a Service is aimed at customers with a variety of cloud strategies, including those who want to maintain some on-premises equipment only while they’re migrating in phases to a public cloud; and others who want to have apps in both the cloud and on premises for the foreseeable future.

“This new set of cloud services from Avaya provides additional flexibility and cost efficiency to enterprise customers who want to take advantage of a public cloud model for our customer and team engagement solutions,” said Joe Manuele, vice president, SI/SP, alliances and cloud, Avaya.

Channel partners will be able to get their hands on the new offering. Top Avaya partner Carousel Industries is the first to sign on to sell this new set of cloud services to customers.

VMware also said that it has an expanded agreement with Google that will allow the search giant to offer greater access to its public cloud services. The Google Cloud Platform will be tightly integrated into vCloud Air.

The first set of Google services available on the VMware platform will be Cloud Storage, BigQuery (data analytics service), Cloud Data store (NoSQL database service) and Cloud DNS.

Later this year, vCloud Air customers will have access to the new services under their current service contract and existing network interconnect, on a pay-per-use model.

The deals come just days after VMware introduced new disaster recovery and enhanced networking services for its cloud platform.
