Avema Corp. is buying Breakaway Services to bolster its telecom expense management (TEM) portfolio in North America. For smaller MSPs looking to charge for “vendor management” services, Avema’s Advanced Vendor Management (AVM) platform could offer some basic clues about the market.According to Avema, AVM:
“delivers the infrastructure to manage voice, data, and wireless processes and costs. By consolidating all telecommunications data in one place, AVM allows companies to manage costs and inventory from any web browser. In addition, it streamlines multiple vendor billing into one standard format and permits users to manage all telecom costs from the same application. Clients gain greater control over their vendors, inventory and expenses, doing more with fewer resources.”
Re-read the paragraph above a few times. ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini roughly two years ago described the need for vendor management to VARs and MSPs attending the IT Nation 2010 conference in Orlando, Fla.
I’m not suggesting Avema is a mainstream, small business answer to vendor management. But the Avema-Breakaway business combo made me think of Bellini’s comments on vendor management. Indeed, Avema claims its software and managed services helps “large organizations to clearly understand their telecom and mobile costs, rid themselves of manual administrative chores, address their mobile security needs and free up more time to focus on higher value strategic work.”
Meanwhile, Breakaway Services manages telecom expenses for the City and County of Denver, Denver International Airport and other organizations in that region.
