Virtual data center provider Bluelock is the latest in a growing line of services providers getting into the cloud disaster recovery business. Bluelock, a VMware vCloud Datacenter partner that hosts virutal data centers in the public cloud, unveiled its 4-Series Virtual Datacenter recovery-as-a-service (RaaS) offering as a new option for end-customers to choose from.
There are plenty of different apps and internal IT services being migrated to the cloud, and one that businesses are increasingly latching onto is disaster recovery. Putting a backup in the cloud that can be used for quick and easy (one hopes) recovery for business continutuity in times of disaster makes sense for businesses of all sizes, so it’s no wonder there’s a growing list of providers, no matter which as-a-service moniker they assign to it.
Bluelock is offering two versions of its RaaS, which it describes as “in-cloud” and “to-cloud.” The VDC 4000 is the in-cloud offering, which is for businesses running VMware-virtualized environments that want the ability to recover data to an enterprise-grade Bluelock Virtual Datacenter. It was designed to be easy to manage, test and verify.
The VCD 4500 is the to-cloud offering and was developed for Bluelock customers with critical workloads that require geographically-separated recovery environments. It provides replication of production applications to a second Bluelock data center.
“Achieving and optimizing the appropriate balance between IT disaster recovery capabilities, affordability and risk mitigation is central to Bluelock’s RaaS solutions,” said Pat O’Day, Bluelock CTO, in a prepared statement. “Bluelock’s 4-Series Virtual Datacenters provide an affordable and effective product for both Bluelock customers and companies who want to recover into Bluelock’s proven enterprise-grade cloud environment at a compelling price point.”
According to the company, the RaaS offering provides several benefits, including:
No application modification required to obtain recovery protection.
Recover into a proven, enterprise-grade cloud environment that can support and run production resources successfully.
Easy and effective testing.
Accurately predict and manage monthly expenses with access to replication service costs in Bluelock Portfolio.
Fully compatible with VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud.
Based on Zerto Virtual Replication.
Both of the RaaS offerings are available now.
