Box Channel Vice President Chris Penner says the company's channel partner program has seen "phenomenal growth" since February.

Cloud storage and file sharing service Box is expanding its partner network with a program designed specifically for systems integrators (SIs) and consultants.

The new Box Services Partner Program, an extension of the partner program first introduced in about a year ago, is targeted toward the consulting and SI community “because they have a different set of needs,” Box Channel Vice President Chris Penner said in an interview with Talkin’ Cloud.

The program is being offered in three different levels — Advantage, Preferred and Premiere — and provides SIs and consultants with sales support, leads, training, access to toolkits and a knowledge base.

Box said the new program will help customers overcome business challenges by enabling them to integrate with new and existing full-scale ERP systems, individual applications, or both; build custom applications to support content-driven processes for mobile workers; and deliver specific use cases for the cloud, social and mobile workforce.

Penner told Talkin’ Cloud that Box’s channel partner program overall has had “phenomenal growth” since February, growing to more than 500 channel partners, and experiencing sales growth of more than 800 percent year over year.

With regards to Box securing $100 million in new funding last week from new strategic partners to help with international expansion, Penner said Box is growing from partners.

“We are growing internationally,” he said. “A lot of our international growth is through our channel program.”

While Box’s legacy model was direct, Penner said the channel is a strategic initiative going into next year and partners should expect big things.
