Cloud provider CodeLathe has extended its Tonido mobile application to Microsoft (MSFT) Windows 8 devices to satisfy what it says is overwhelming demaind from customers.

Tonido provides users secure access to their home computers’ collections of documents, photos, music and videos, without requiring them to upload them to a public cloud service.

Tonido’s Windows 8 app will offer the same features available to users leveraging the solution on iOS and Android devices. They include the following:

  • Remote file access — Browse files and documents, download them locally, edit them and re-upload.

  • Downloading for offline use — Save files locally so they are available without Internet access.

  • Music streaming — Stream an entire music collection without saving it to a device.

  • Video streaming — Stream videos and iTunes playlist from a computer to Windows 8 devices.

  • Sharing — Share selected files, music and media to guest users either via direct links or email.

  • Media organization — All music, photos, videos are indexed by name, date and information such as artist, album and genre.

  • Support for multiple operating systems  — Tonido persona cloud software is available for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. Plug-and-play remote access without router setting changes.

  • Simple access from any device — Easy to remember web URL provides access to a personal computer.

CodeLathe CEO Madhan Kanagavel said in a prepared statement that the company’s OEM customers have been requesting the Windows 8 app for a while now.

“Continuing our mission to provide broad support for all popular devices on the market, we have decided to launch the Windows 8 app,” he said. “Designed and optimized for tablets, Tonido is a simple, free way to instantly access and stream personal media.”

CodeLath recently addressed some of the problems enterprises have with file, sync and share cloud services with the introduction of new features to its Tonido Cloud FileCloud offering.
