CommSolv, a provider of communications asset management solutions for wireless and wireline networks, has announced it has added new functionality specific for BlackBerry Enterprise Server to its Mobile Asset Management software platform, including self-serve BlackBerry smartphone activation and automated de-activation of lost/stolen BlackBerry smartphones.

“Membership in the BlackBerry Alliance Program has enabled us to deliver a unique offering that streamlines the on-boarding of new users on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server and provides added security for corporate data residing on all BlackBerry smartphones,” said Anaud Ganpaul, vice president of product management at Commsolv. “The integration of Blackberry Enterprise Server into our Mobile Asset Management Platform furthers CommSolv’s leadership in helping organizations save money, increase the control and security of their cell phone and smartphone deployments and reduce the manual IT effort required to manage their mobile assets.”

With this new functionality, users are automatically provisioned on the appropriate BlackBerry Enterprise Server when their smartphone order is completed. Their BlackBerry smartphone activation codes are generated, captured and automatically e-mailed to the users for them to activate their smartphones.

The new offering also allows users to report stolen devices using the CommSolv self-service portal. The BlackBerry smartphone is automatically wiped and, based on configuration parameters that have been set by IT, the associated service plan can be automatically cancelled or automatically reassigned to a new BlackBerry smartphone.
