Distribution Watch: Novus, Tech Data, D&H

Novus:  The telecommunications and IP distributor has been named a preferred partner to snom and SUTUS to support the deployment of snom IP phones to customers of SUTUS Business Central.

The snom 720 IP phone is now certified for auto provisioning with the SUTUS Business Central following the completion of extensive interoperability testing. Novus, a snom Platinum distributor, is supporting the supply and distribution of a SUTUS package combining SUTUS Business Central with snom phones as an integrated solution for SUTUS franchisee customers throughout North America.

Tech Data: Not one to stand still, Tech Data has snapped up Specialist Distribution Group (SDG), an EMEA-based company comprised of IQ Sys and ISI in the United Kingdom, ETC and Best’Ware in France and ETC in the Netherlands. Tech Data is shelling out $350 million in the deal.

The acquisition will add a number of new enterprise vendors to Tech Data’s EMEA stable including VMware, Citrix and IBM, as well as about 600 additional employees.

“The acquisition adds breadth and depth to our product and customer portfolios, and creates a comprehensive enterprise solution stack in networking and communications, server and storage and enterprise software across a broader pan-European footprint,” said Tech Data CEO Bob Dutkowsky.

D&H: D&H is going mobile with its D&H App for iPhone and iPod Touch, which allows customers to place orders online. The mobile application reproduces much of the same information that displays for customers on the dandh.com web site. Users can browse and search D&H’s entire product catalog, and resellers can securely place orders, view product availability and search for products by scanning a UPC barcode.

The app also enables resellers to access popular features such as the customer’s Watchlist, order tracking and order history. VARs can browse the catalog according to category, manufacturer or keyword, and even view inventory levels according to warehouse, making a great amount of content accessible on-the-go.
