Distribution Watch: Tech Data, Avnet, Ingram Micro

Tech Data: The Canadian arm of Tech Data (NASDAQ: TECD) announced its 2,500 sq. ft. Integration Center in Richmond, B.C., received ISO 9001:2008 registration, the second Tech Data Canada Integration Center to achieve the accreditation (the first is located within the TDC’s 250,000 sq. ft. logistics center in Mississauga, Ontario).

To achieve ISO 9001:2008 registration accreditation, TDC had to to review, improve and manage the processes necessary for the continual improvement of its quality management system. According to the distributor, “The ISO 9001:2008 registration allows us to provide professional, high-quality configured technological products to our customers by eliminating nonconformity at all stages of the process and complying with and improving the Quality System.”

Avnet: Raymond Sadowski, Avnet’s (NYSE: AVT) chief financial officer, is retiring after 19 years in the CFO slot. He joined the distributor in 1978 as a corporate accounting supervisor.

Avnet has initiated a search for a new finance chief, engaging executive management firm Crist/Kolder Associates to assist in the process. Sadowski will remain at Avnet until a successor is named and then will continue in a senior advisory role.

Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM) Cloud has added Ipanema Technologies‘ new SMB-focused application performance offering, AppsWork, to its stable of offerings for VARs and MSPs. According to the press release announcing the service, “AppsWork enables the unserved SMB market to take full advantage of any application, including cloud and Internet-based, guaranteeing performance and delivering full application visibility.”

AppsWork will be distributed by Ingram Micro via its Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace, and will be available to system integrators, cloud service providers, MSPs and resellers — pretty much Ingram Micro’s entire customer base. The offering is available now, with roll-out in other countries in subsequent months, according to the company.
