Ensim Corporation, an IT automation solutions provider, has launched Ensim IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service) Manager 3.0 for VMware (VMW). IaaS Manager 3.0 works with the Ensim Automation Suite to support multiple Microsoft (MSFT) and VMware hypervisors from a single platform.

“Ensim IaaS Manager is able to work with VMware vCloud Director and VMware vCloud Automation Center to cost-effectively provide business support system/operations support system (BSS/OSS) functionality with multi-tenant and dedicated deployment architectures for public, private or hybrid clouds,” Dave Wippich, Ensim’s chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.

Wippich added that enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) “need a way to commercialize cloud-based IT [offerings],” and Ensim claims IaaS Manager 3.0 provides additional support to help them meet customer demands. Ensim also noted IaaS Manager 3.0 is an an end-to-end managed cloud solution that features administrative, automation, billing and provisioning capabilities.

IaaS Manager 3.0 supports Microsoft and VMware management platforms for IaaS and platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and its new features include:

  • Network automation capabilities

  • Support for multiple hypervisors

  • Support for deployments on multiple infrastructure solutions, including EMC (EMC), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and IBM (IBM)

In addition, IaaS Manager 3.0 uses a role-based portal for usage tracking and self-service operations.

“Ensim’s IaaS Manager allows service providers and enterprises to leverage the combination of agility and control that our leading VMware solutions offer, and to incorporate the front and back-end functionalities necessary to commercialize the delivery of IT services via the cloud,” Sanjay Katyal, VMWare’s vice president of global strategic alliances, said in a statement.

Ensim points out IaaS Manager 3.0 supports virtual machine management (VMM) and the purchase, deployment and management of virtual data centers (VDCs). The company said IaaS Manager 3.0 eventually will support OpenStack hypervisors as well.
