Friday's Last Word: Datto CEO Austin McChord
Datto CEO Austin McChord took some time out of his day to partake in Friday's Last Word for our readers, opening himself up to our questions about his life outside of the office. How does he feel about political television dramas? Where was his last vacation trip? We'll reveal the details in this Talkin' Cloud Exclusive.
Datto CEO Austin McChord founded the company back in 2007 to develop a backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity (BC) solution like nothing else in the market. He’s still the driving force behind the company today. How does he feel about political television dramas? What would we like him to share with Talkin’ Cloud? We’ll reveal the answers.
MCCHORD: David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. I loved his past books, and this one was quite good as well.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Malcom Gladwell has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1996 and has written five books.
MCCHORD: Chicken, rice and an apple (nothing too fancy).
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: The image used here represents what a chicken, rice and apple dinner would look like if all the ingredients were shredded onto one plate.
MCCHORD: Captain Philips. I really liked it.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Tom Hank’s best performance. (Sorry for those of you still tightly clinging to Forrest Gump.)
MCCHORD: House of Cards. I feel the show is incredibly well done, and I am a sucker for political dramas.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Watching political dramas and living political dramas are two different things (I prefer the latter.)
MCCHORD: The Killers. They played at VMworld two years ago.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: According to the band, they’re taking a breather.
MCCHORD: 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina display (ordered this week).
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: It may be time for me to move down to something smaller. Stay tuned.
MCCHORD: Icleand in September 2013. I would recommend everyone visit Iceland at least once.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Not sure why McChord is making this suggestion? Do a quick Google Images search of Iceland, and you’ll find out why.
MCCHORD: Our internal metrics pages.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Would you care to share these internal metrics with Talkin’ Cloud? 🙂
