Friday's Last Word: iland CEO Scott Sparvero
iland CEO Scott Sparvero may lead a cloud computing company, but does he trust his cat at home?
iland CEO Scott Sparvero co-founded the company in 1995 with Brian Ussher, the current president. As the demand for network security increased the company became a global VMware provider, managed colocation and high speed IP network and data services provider for high-bandwidth customers. He now oversees the execution of sales, marketing and financial services at the company. But the real question is: Why doesn’t he trust his cat?
SPARVERO: Black Sabbath 2013 – loud but not loud enough to use the ear plugs I’d brought.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Iron Man, the first song everyone learns on guitar, never the last.
SPARVERO: Oblivion. Was it the best movie I’ve ever seen? No. But it wasn’t the worst either.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: That doesn’t seem too convincing.
SPARVERO: Grilled salmon and lentils. Yes, lentils. My pilates instructor would be proud.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Did it look something like the picture to the left? (You can find anything on Google.)
SPARVERO: The Chappelle Show because it’s hilarious.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: I have some of his jokes in mind, but they are definitely not appropriate for this forum.
SPARVERO: The Sun Also Rises.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Great book. My one criticism of Hemingway is that his characters fall in love after two pages, not too realistic — or maybe that’s why he was married four times?
SPARVERO: AR DRONE — for surveillance on my cat.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Surveillance on the cat? Should cats feel the pressure of NSA tactics, too?
SPARVERO: VMware. We are certainly well-versed in VMware’s technology (and they in ours), but I’m always looking to review the content of our latest joint offering.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Did you miss anything from VMworld 2013? We got you covered.
SPARVERO: Who has time for vacations?
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: We all need to go offline once and a while.
