SugarCRM CEO Larry Augustin has been leading the company since 2009, taking over from co-founder John Roberts in an increasingly competitive market. (Can SugarCRM take a bite out of rival Salesforce.com (CRM)?) Which website did Augustin last visit, and what’s the last gadget he bought? Read on to find out.
AUGUSTIN: At the IBM (IBM) Smarter Commerce Summit in Nashville, they brought in Foreigner at the Grand Ole Opry. Last time I saw Foreigner was in high school, so it was great to see them perform again.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Can’t get any better than a tech conference that provides free dinner, drinks and concerts, can you?
AUGUSTIN: As a company, we went to see Star Trek Into Darkness. Our offices in Cupertino are literally across the street from the movie theater, so about once a quarter, we all go out to the movies together.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Star Trek has taken over the minds, eyes and ears of techies.
AUGUSTIN: Last week at the Quattro Restaurant in Palo Alto. The dinner was hosted by Andrew Aitken (of Black Duck) and Mark Radcliffe (of DLA) who have been organizing these dinners among Open Source execs for many years now. I try to attend every year.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Who doesn’t like Italian food?
AUGUSTIN: TV? Is that still around?
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Yes, it is. I’m watching it right now — and now I’m turning it off.
AUGUSTIN: ESPN Score Centerapp. I have to have updates with football season just around the corner.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Fantasy Football will take over the lives of men (and some women) across the country very shortly.
AUGUSTIN: I can’t keep my hands off high tech gadgets. I buy just about everything when it comes out. Last year we bought iPads for everyone at SugarCRM because I believe our business is going entirely mobile. The last gadget I bought for myself was probably the Asus Transformer TF700 tablet. It’s an Android tablet with a keyboard dock. Answering this question is making me think I need a new gadget.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: How do you think I feel? Each week I speak to a CEO who has a cool, hip gadget to brag about. My bank account is getting low.
AUGUSTIN: Talkin’ Cloud, of course.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Wise words.
AUGUSTIN: I was in Tokyo last week for two days of business and two days for pleasure. Tokyo is one of my favorite cities in the world, so I spent a couple of extra days there with my family.
TALKIN CLOUD’s SPIN: Two days of business and two days for pleasure. That’s the way to do business travel.
