Fujitsu’s Global Cloud Portfolio is set to offer Nimsoft‘s cloud-based monitoring and IT service desk solution to partners, SaaS ISVs (independent software vendors) and customers. The Fujitsu-Nimsoft cloud partnership will start in Australia and New Zealand before expanding worldwide. Here’s the potential upside for Fujitsu and Nimsoft.

Nimsoft started out as an on-premises IT monitoring and management solution, initially targeting mid-market MSPs. Around the time CA Technologies acquired Nimsoft in 2010, Nimsoft began introducing cloud versions of its software and also used M&A to push into IT service desk solutions.

Meanwhile, Fujitsu itself offers customers a range of managed services — including managed infrastructure, 24×7 support, offshore outsourcing, and retailing managed services.

The Nimsoft-Fujitsu deal arrives as CA strives to increase synergies between the CA and Nimsoft software portfolios, particularly for mid-market customers and emerging enterprises. Former Nimsoft CEO Chris O’Malley exited CA last week, and the Nimsoft R&D, marketing and sales teams now report in directly to CA.

Meanwhile, a growing number of MSPs are using a broader portfolio of CA software. A prime example involves ScaleMatrix, an MSP and private cloud provider in California that leverages Nimsoft (for IT management), ARCserve (storage) and AppLogic (launching SaaS and cloud services).
