Meg Whitman
CEO Meg Whitman was the opening speaker for both HPE Discover and the HPE Global Partner Summit. Both messages resembled each other: elaborating on HPE’s hybrid IT strategy, dispelling the idea of mass public cloud migration and hyping up HPE’s new products.
Composable Infrastructure
Ric Lewis, senior vice president and general manager, of HPE’s software-defined and cloud group, speaks at a media briefing. Lewis laid out the steps HPE is taking to improve its “composable” infrastructure strategy.
HPE announced security and storage enhancements to Synergy, its platform designed to help data centers adapt to hybrid IT environments.
Transformation Zone
Attendees traversed the Transformation Zone, a large expo hall for HPE and its partners, on their way to the general sessions. Guided tours, numerous demos and interactive games were on hand.
Aruba Health Care
Özer Dondurmacıoğlu, general manager of Meridan Apps for Aruba, explains how the company’s IoT solution helps support health care.
Pre-existing Aruba solutions ClearPass and AirWave combine with the capabilities of Niara, which HPE is acquiring this year. Ozer spoke to Channel Partners last year about new Aruba products intended to address the digital workspace.
Aruba 8400
Aruba employees explain how the company’s new 8400 switch series (bottom left) helps businesses get better visibility and control over their network edge. Aruba announced the new solution on the first day of the conference.
Aruba Networking Hardware
Aruba put an array of networking hardware on display for attendees to see. HPE acquired Aruba two years ago for $3 billion.
Predictive Maintenance
HPE demoed a predictive maintenance tool that’s designed to monitor factories. The tool kept track of a miniature conveyor belt and alerted IT of any potential malfunctions.
Expo Hall
Attendees walked through the expo hall, which contained booths of numerous HPE sponsors.
HPE Software and Intel were the lead sponsors, followed by AMD, CenturyLink, Citrix, DXC.technology, Pwc, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Data and Veeam.
Awards
HPE named Accenture its Global Alliance Advisory and SI Partner of the Year. HPE announced multiple partner award-winners during Monday’s Global Partner Summit.

HPE hosted its Global Partner Summit in addition to the headline Discover event, drawing partners and customers alike. CEO Meg Whitman spoke at both events, articulating her company’s hybrid IT strategy and showcasing new solutions.
HPE and recently purchased Aruba put their IoT chops on display, showing attendees various ways in which businesses can gain insight and productivity from connected things.
