The TechSelect partner community is growing its revenue and adopting new technology.
Tech Data hosted the event at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. Attendees were just a stone’s-throw away from the Disney BoardWalk.
Joe Quaglia, Tech Data’s president of the Americas, greeted partners during the opening keynote. He outlined the investments Tech Data has been making since it finished acquiring part of Avnet.
“We believe that as we come out of this transformation, we’re going to be bigger, better, stronger, faster, and deliver a better quality of service to our partner community,” Quaglia said.
We covered Quaglia’s talk on our sister site, Channel Partners.
Partners and suppliers gathered in the expo hall for dinner on Tuesday night. The Alice in Wonderland-themed gathering featured popular vendors like Veeam, Fortinet, HPE and Cisco.
The day job never stops for a small-business owner. Tech Data partners and employees made calls and conducted meetings in the lobby.
Marty Bauerlein, Tech Data’s senior vice president of North American sales, thanked TechSelect partners for helping his unit achieve its largest sales day in company history. The TechSelect community, which targets small and midmarket companies, earned major kudos from Tech Data executives.
“Our goal with Tech Select is to make sure you guys perform, and performance pays bills,” he told the audience.
We covered Bauerlein’s comments in this recap.

Tech Data resellers are helping the company attack a tantalizing market opportunity.
The distributor last week hosted its fall TechSelect Partner Conference in Orlando. TechSelect is a group of 419 partners that sell to SMB and midmarket customers. Tech Data executives highlighted the SMB/midmarket segment as a customer base that remains red hot after a particularly prosperous year all-around for Tech Data.
The company detailed how it is investing in market coverage, an operating system, automation and new solutions, as well as how partners have reciprocated the investment.
“They’re really starting to engage and immerse in the enablement programs that we have to help them transition to the next-generation technology,” Joe Quaglia, president of the Americas, told us.
