Ingram Micro North America Services VP Justin Crotty (pictured), leader of the company’s Seismic managed services business, is leaving Ingram Micro July 2. Sometime in mid-2010, Crotty will join NetEnrich, an IT-as-a-service company that works closely with distributors and channel partners. Here are the details.
First, a little background: Ingram Micro Seismic is a master MSP of sorts, hosting and offering a range of SaaS and IT solutions for managed services providers. Since Seismic’s inception, Crotty led the business’s growth to roughly 2,000 partners — up from roughly 1,600 MSPs in early 2010.
During a phone call today, Crotty confirmed his imminent move to NetEnrich but also said Ingram remains committed to Seismic’s ongoing growth. In fact, Crotty added, support for Seismic reaches all the way up to Ingram’s board of directors.
That said, the offer to join NetEnrich was too tempting for Crotty to pass up. When Crotty joins NetEnrich sometime in mid-2010, he’ll be senior VP and GM, reporting to NetEnrich CEO Raju Chekuri.
Crotty is familiar with NetEnrich’s business strategy and executive team. In fact, Ingram Micro Seismic leverages NetEnrich’s NOC service. But Crotty says NetEnrich is more than a NOC provider. He sees the company as an IT-as-service provider that bridges on-premises IT management and cloud management. “NetEnrich is a pure channel play,” says Crotty. “My job will be to help grow the company through distribution, and we’ll be paying particular attention to SMB and SME opportunities.”
Next Moves for Ingram Micro Seismic
Ingram Micro is actively searching for a North America executive to replace Crotty and run the Services Division, which has grown to about 30 people, according to a company spokeswoman. The search will involve both internal and external efforts, she adds.
In the meantime, Ingram’s Brian Wiser will run Seismic, while Jason Beal and Chris Parks (well-known directors within the Services Division) will assume more responsibility until a new Seismic leader is named, according to the spokeswoman.
I’ll be curious to see if Beal and/or Parks are in the running to lead Seismic amid Ingram’s internal and external search for Crotty’s replacement.
“My departure is a personnel change,” concluded Crotty. “But it doesn’t change the Seismic strategy.” And, Crotty added, he expects to maintain the Ingram-NetEnrich partnership while working for NetEnrich.
