InterDev Wins Contract to Provide Managed Services to South Carolina City
Atlanta-based InterDev won a contract to provide managed services to Beaufort, S.C., a city of 12,300, located about 25 miles north of Hilton Head Island.

InterDev, an Atlanta, Ga.,-based managed service provider (MSP), announced today it has been awarded a public contract to provide IT and security services to the city of Beaufort, S.C.

The firm completed an IT assessment for the city that will serve as a foundation for a new maintenance and support program.

InterDev won the contract through a competitive bidding process that included both public- and private-sector service providers.

“InterDev was totally professional and brought us everything we needed,” Beaufort City Manager William Prokop said.

“They are our entire IT department, providing everything that it takes to make sure our technology is running,” he said. “We wanted a company that was going to show us what we didn’t know – keep us current and show us how to use IT tools in the modern environment – and InterDev is also doing that.”

Under the agreement, InterDev will provide 24/7 monitoring and maintenance of servers, networks, employee workstations, backup systems, and hosted applications.

The MSP has agreed to give the city guaranteed priority response for any issues.

In addition, the company will provide strategic planning, help desk support, remote access administration, security services, comprehensive network and desktop device reporting, disaster recovery planning and administration, and Microsoft Exchange email system management and support.

InterDev will also serve as a liaison between the city and other technology providers, like the telecommunications vendor, and educate city officials about technology solutions in use at other municipalities to help Beaufort implement a more modern IT environment.

“The City of Beaufort, like so many cities, needs robust technology to service its citizens and businesses, but doesn’t necessarily have the know-how to achieve it,” InterDev CEO Gary Nichols said. “We are honored to partner with the city to help it fortify and enhance its IT operations while also helping it explore new technology horizons.”

Beaufort, South Carolina’s second-oldest city, behind Charleston, had a population of 12,361, as of the 2010 census. It is located about 25 miles north of Hilton Head Island.

InterDev, which also has offices in Chicago, is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and a Barracuda Networks Certified Diamond Partner.
