Kaseya, the IT management software provider, has delivered a Software Deployment and Update (KSDU) module. The goal? Make life easier for IT organizations and MSPs that need to deploy and manage third-party software.In the past, Kaseya claims, IT administrators and MSPs would manually monitor networks for updates and create installation scripts across several operating systems. Now, those IT administrators and MSPs deploying third-party software can deploy, update and manage that software according to company policy. The tasks can be organized and manged using Kaseya administrative portals.
New alerts allow IT managers to track:
Application status;
top five deployed applications;
deployments in the last 24 hours; and
multiple alert templates
These sound like minor enhancements, but Kaseya isn’t taking them lightly. The company noted that hackers are starting to target third-party applications as frequently as they target core software. So Kaseya believes that keeping those third-party software products up to date is just as important as updating your operating system software.
Still, we concede: We don’t have a good feel for how Kaseya’s Software Deployment and Update module compares with alternative remote management and monitoring platforms. We’ll be sure to ask vendors for their perspectives as we continue to cover the broader RMM software market. Also, numerous software companies offer electronic software distribution and maintenance tools.
In addition to the new Kaseya module, the software company released a mobile device management solution in August.
