Eric Berry, Vice President of Global Channel Operations at Tintri
Berry: Sweeping floors and breaking down cardboard boxes at my father’s distribution business in Boulder, Colorado. I guess distribution and channels has always been in my blood.
The VAR Guy says: You went from sweeping floors to being the channel chief at a company with its own distribution centers. That's upward mobility if we ever saw it.
Berry: A Ford GT 250 – it’s like a beautiful piece of art on wheels.
The VAR Guy says: The double racing stripe down the center just exemplifies how cool this car is. It looks fast just sitting still!
Berry: San Jose Del Cabo – one of the few places where I can actually unwind. Not to mention it’s a short two-hour flight from my home in Colorado.
The VAR Guy says: That's close enough for you to go on vacation all the time! We're jealous.
Berry: "The Lombardi Rules." If every leader adhered to just a few of his rules, their people could accomplish extraordinary goals.
"Lombardi-ism" below:
"Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a society work, a civilization work."
The VAR Guy says: This book, written by the son of former Green Bay Packers coach Vincent Lombardi, is an inspirational look at what it takes to succeed and how to be a better leader, as told through Lombardi's famous quotes.
Berry: My condo in San Jose Del Cabo.
The VAR Guy says: Wow, this is a pretty cool splurge item. Perfect for a weekend getaway or for when you just need a change of scenery.
Berry: Denver Broncos football, of course! Go Broncos! For a television series, "The Walking Dead." Who doesn’t love zombies?
The VAR Guy says: We're pretty sure Rick Grimes and the rest of the characters on "The Walking Dead" hate zombies, but we'll admit that they sure are fun to watch!
Berry: I wanted to be a racecar driver – I have always loved speed and fast cars. At age 13 I raced my best friend in his dad’s Alfa Romeo using my mom’s Peugeot. He crashed into a fence and I won, although not really. My parents found out and grounded me for a month.
The VAR Guy says: In this case, it sounds like you were fast and your parents were furious. It might be a good combination for Vin Diesel, but not for a teenager!
Berry: "Sniper" – it shows there are things you may have to do in life that are not pretty nor comfortable. However, you can do them with grace, integrity and humility.
The VAR Guy says: If you should like this movie you should definitely check out "American Sniper" with Bradley Cooper. Another film that provides an interesting look into a pretty extraordinary soldier's life.
