Rafael Garzon, Managing Director, Americas Channel at Citrix
Garzon: Assistant Civil Engineer in a Construction company in Bogota, Colombia
The VAR Guy says: Wow, it sounds like you really "designed" the perfect career. Excuse the pun, but it sounds like you found the "blueprint" to success!
Garzon: Lamborghini Huracan
The VAR Guy says: Now that’s what we call a dream car! And by that, we mean we could only afford one of these in our dreams (The Lamborghini Huracan retails for a cool $237,000).
Garzon: Las Vegas
The VAR Guy says: We hope you hit it big on the slots and/or at the card tables! Maybe then you can afford that Lamborghini after all!
Garzon: "Powerful Conversations" by Phil Harkins and “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis
The VAR Guy says: "Powerful Conversations" is a primer for leaders to learn how to command authority and respect from their employees, and includes examples from some of today's most highly respected business visionaries. As for “The Chronicles of Narnia,” C.S. Lewis’ fantasy series is a staple among young adult readers, and spawned a series of fairly successful movies to boot.
Garzon: An apartment
The VAR Guy says: Nice! Having an extra place to stay is never a bad idea, especially if you tend to travel a lot (which, we’re guessing, you do as a channel chief).
Garzon: "Shark Tank" and "The Voice"
The VAR Guy says: Part of why we love "Shark Tank" is seeing some of the crazy ideas that people come up with, only to get shot down by the judges. As for "The Voice," its always fun to see the bad singers, but it's even better to see someone rise from anonymity to become a star!
Garzon: I wanted to be a pilot.
The VAR Guy says: “Captain Garzon” sounds like a pretty great title, if you ask us. You should put out a company-wide memo suggesting that employees call you that around the office.
Garzon: "Inception" – It is fascinating to question if we lived or dreamed any experience in our lives, and being able to change real outcomes by interfering with dreams is scary.
The VAR Guy says: "Inception" is another Christopher Nolan classic, right up there with "Memento" and the Batman trilogy. If you liked this one, you’re bound to like "Interstellar," starring the superb Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway.

This week in Meet the Chiefs we sat down with Rafael Garzon, Managing Director, Americas Channel at Citrix (CTXS), to learn more about the man behind the networking company's partner organization. Garzon is responsible for more than 2,000 of Citrix's partners in both North and South America, and oversees the company's go-to-market strategy in both regions.
Garzon joined Citrix in 2006 and has held several leadership roles in the company's Latin America and Carribbean team, including channel development, education and readiness and as director of Sales for northern Latin America. He also spent a number of years at Nortel Networks before joining Citrix.
