Meet the Chiefs: Xenophon Giannis, Nexusguard
This week we chatted with Xenophon Giannis, vice president of Sales at Nexusguard, a company that specializes in protecting customers from Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Although he isn't a channel chief in title, Giannis works regularly with the company's channel partner ecosystem, where he oversees business development and lead generation to expand the company's revue through dedicated channel initiatives.
Xenophon Giannis, vice president at Nexusguard
Giannis: I was a busboy at my family restaurant in Sonoma, Calif. I started unofficially working at around 13 years old.
The VAR Guy: It's always good to get an early start, plus we bet you always had more money for going out on the weekends than your friends!
Giannis: A black Tesla S P85D with autopilot.
The VAR Guy: That sure is a beautiful ride. And autopilot? Sign us up.
Giannis: My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, Calif. as our first getaway together since our son was born in August; it was a much-needed break.
The VAR Guy: This looks absolutely gorgeous. It must have been really difficult to leave a place like that!
Giannis: “Winning” by Jack Welch with Suzy Welch, a must read for anyone in a leadership position or anyone who manages people.
The VAR Guy: Jack Welch is the former chairman and chief executive officer at General Electric, and uses his book to distil more than 40 years of business and management experience to audiences who wish to emulate his success.
Giannis: We just got done remodeling our condo, so I would say the new rain shower, marble countertops and induction stovetop were all splurge items and they made my wife very happy.
The VAR Guy: You know what they say – Happy Wife, Happy Life! But a kitchen like that must be awesome for you too, especially with so many fancy additions.
Giannis: “The Walking Dead,” with “Game of Thrones” as a tie (but it isn't currently on this time of year).
The VAR Guy: Both great shows that need to come back on the air with new episodes ASAP! We need more zombie/fantasy action please!
Giannis: I wanted to be in business, either in the stock market or in real estate.
The VAR Guy: It sounds like you were very ambitious as a kid. Real estate is tough, but we hear working on the stock market is even more challenging!
Giannis: "Braveheart" – it's a classic inspirational film. I love the way William Wallace stands behind his principles and does what is right, not what is easy. He inspires his people to follow him into any battle because of his confidence and resolve. I always aspire to be the same type of leader.
The VAR Guy: Have you ever let anyone in the office paint their faces blue? It might help make casual Fridays more interesting. Just saying.
