Meru Networks has introduced the AP440, a four-radio IEEE 802.11n wireless access point offering gigabit throughput, integral security and application flexibility.

Each of the AP440 IEEE 802.11n radios supports access at up to 300mbps for 1.2gbps capacity. The company said because the four radios work together to provide internal redundancy, load-balancing and security, enterprise users can reduce the number of access points and security sensors they need.

The radios also are backward-compatible with the legacy 802.11a/b/g standards. They can be dedicated to a specific frequency band to take advantage of 802.11n performance.

Meru also has added a new 4gbps acceleration module for its MC5000 controller, enabling an MC5000 chassis fully loaded with five of the modules to achieve throughput of 20gbps.

The AP440 Access Point costs $2,995 and the MC5000 4gbps Acceleration Module is $15,000. Both products will be available in the third quarter through Meru systems integrators, VARs and distributors.
