Michael Dell continues to bang the drum for Dell’s (NASDAQ:DELL) channel partners. The latest evidence: Dell’s CEO has been circulating an online presentation to partners and media, further explaining how Dell’s acquisitions over the past few years will empower channel partners.
Yes, The VAR Guy has mentioned that Dell presentation before. But it seems to have gone viral in recent weeks. Moreover, Dell Software President John Swainson and Channel Chief Greg Davis reinforced the partner messaging during a media and analyst gathering in San Francisco last week.
The online presentation, hosted by Channel Development Manager David Hamson, states: “By investing in adjacent and strategic acquisitions like EqualLogic, Compellent, Force10 and SonicWall, we’re able to offer channel partners unparalleled solutions across the data center, as well as software tools like Wyse, Quest and AppAssure to help manage these complex solutions.”
And last week in San Francisco, Swainson said partners were greatly influencing Dell’s software strategy, where annual sales are now about $1.5 billion. To further grow software sales, Dell’s plan calls for roughly 800 new sales and developer positions this year — 400 of those positions are already filled, Swainson added.
Also Pitching for Dell Partners…
Dell has also expanded its channel team to better serve partners. One example: Former Juniper (NYSE:JNPR) Channel Chief Frank Vitagliano recently joined Dell, and the grape vine suggests Vitagliano was in San Francisco last week meeting with Dell partners — and also hosting parters at a San Francisco Giants baseball game.
The VAR Guy was not in the stands… or was he? Hmmm…
