Some leaders are born, some are made, but all of the really great ones are genuine. Good leaders can get in their own way when working to become great leaders by not recognizing their own unique talents and strengths. They allow their bright ideas to be dimmed or even extinguished by self-doubt. Thinking Without Restrictions’ Anthony Palmucci explained how to navigate the maze of hidden talents and hidden roadblocks and tap into outstanding leadership potential.
How well do you know your customers? The more you understand their business operations, their technology requirements, want they want from you and what they need from you, the better their customer experience — and the stronger your relationship with them. Informa Tech’s Bobby DeMarzo (far left) and a panel of senior IT leaders separated fact from fancy when it comes to improving customer satisfaction. That panel was composed of (left to right) Fortress Information Security’s Dr. Lee V. Mangold, OnDefend’s Carlos Rodriguez, Caribe Royale’s Chet Patel and independent CIO consultant Fabian Rodriguez.
The push and pull of changes within the channel is reforming technology service distributors (TSD) and technology service brokers. (Left to right) Darcee Nelan of IQ Wired, Jamaal Savwoir of Intelisys and Bana Qashu Young of Avant conducted a lively discussion of how TSDs are being impacted and what the future holds.
As with everything else in the channel, marketing is changing. The buyer’s journey is following a new route and channel partners must make sure they remain highly visible along the way. Moderator Allison Bergamo of Bergamo Marketing Group (not pictured) led a panel discussion of marketing best practices, marketing resources available and how to get the most out of marketing investments. The panel (left to right): Reggie Stevens of IRIS Solutions, Charlene Ignacio of The CMU Guru, HireXpro and Marcial Velez of Xperteks.
The MSP roundtable was all about swapping stories, giving and taking advice, exchanging opinions and enjoying the camaraderie. Gathered around the table were (clockwise from left) MSP Growth Coalition’s Juan Fernandez, Meruplex’s Neil Medwed, MSP Toolkit’s Len DiCostanzo, Stronghold Data’s Jason Rincker, Synetek Solutions’ Nancy Henriquez, Informa Tech’s Bob DeMarzo, Greystone Technology’s Peter Melby, Synetek Solutions’ Mayron Herrera, Moser Consulting’s Matt Wren and Casey Martin.
A diversity, equity and inclusion strategy is crucial for any business. It impacts recruiting, productivity, profitability and much more. Have the myriad changes taking place in the channel pushed DE&I to the background, or have they made it even more important? Five9’s Kelli Ballou-McMillan, founder of the Xposure Inclusion & Diversity Council, covered these topics and more with (left to right) Digital Realty’s Morgan Granfield, Juniper Networks’ Devi Rai and Comcast’s Quismet Fernandez-Sanchez.
Telecom for Change came in at 200% of its event goal of raising $10,000 for Raintree Children & Family Services. After InnoTek’s Fred Reck (left) stepped up with a contribution to help the project reach its goal, Granite’s Charlie Pagliazzo announced the company was fund matching the original goal with a $10,000 contribution.
One of the top obstacles for MSP growth these days is a shortage of talent. That’s why having a pipeline of potential employees is just as important as having a pipeline of potential clients. IT By Design’s Sunny Kalia and Todd Billiar conducted an interactive session on creating and executing an effective process for recruiting talent.
The second day in the Expo Hall was a busy one. In addition to networking and deal-making throughout the day, a noon luncheon and late afternoon Pub Crawl took place.
Just as no mountaineer ever plans an ascent without a map, so no MSP sets out to become successful without a strategy. The very best make it to the Channel Futures MSP 501, a listing of the most influential and important managed service providers and organizations that focus on recurring revenue streams. Some of the top performers from 2022 joined Channel Futures’ Allison Francis (far left) to discuss their experiences, market challenges and expectations for the future. They were (left to right) Parasol Alliance’s Amber Bardon, Magnitech’s Tim Pabich, Accent Consulting’s Phil Wright and AKATI Security’s Krishna Rajagopal.
A formalized version of the infamous “elevator pitch,” Spark Talks provide participants with five minutes to present their products and services to attendees. Here, Portnox’s Shon Turner outlines the merits of network and endpoint security delivered by the Portnox Cloud.
Four channel superstars shared their stories of achievement, setbacks, disappointments and victories along their paths to success. Apogee’s Paul Cronin, Unusually Unusual Consulting’s Amy Bailey, WCA Technologies’ Peter Fidler and Sumo Communications’ Bret Hickenlooper related the ups and downs of their journeys.
Channel Futures’ Allison Francis (standing) moderated as the four MSP 501 Executives of the Year for 2022 — (from left to right) Mayron Herrera of Synetek Solutions, Amber Moore of Pioneer 360, Vinod Paul of Align and Robert House of Triton Networks — shared insights into customer, vendor, partner and marketing trends taking place.
The grand finale of the three-day Channel Futures MSP Summit/Channel Partners Leadership Summit was the MSP 501 Gala, where 501ers were honored and special award winners were announced. Attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception prior to the celebration dinner and awards ceremony.

MSP SUMMIT/CHANNEL PARTNERS LEADERSHIP SUMMIT — Day three of Channel Futures’ new event in Orlando exploded out of the gate. By day’s end, attendees had many hours of education and networking under their belts.
The day started with inspiration from Anthony Palmucci, founder and director of coaching at Thinking Without Restrictions. His words helped leaders find their hidden talents by eliminating roadblocks in the way.
A panel of CIOs and CISOs explained how channel partners should go about engaging with them. There are smart ways and not-so-smart ways.
The audience also heard from execs at some of the world’s top managed service providers. They offered lessons in success. And speaking of MSPs, those execs and many more concluded their day at the Channel Futures MSP 501 Awards gala.
