MSPBanter: A Closer Look at LogMeIn Central, LogMeIn Pro Alternatives

Hi! My name is Dan Kobialka, and I’m an Associate Editor for MSPmentor and Talkin’ Cloud. Since last April, I’ve been covering a wide range of news for both sites, and now, I’m kicking off a weekly column where I’ll share my thoughts and views about the managed services space.

Welcome to the inaugural edition of MSPBanter! This week, I wanted to take a closer look at recent news involving LogMeIn (LOGM), a remote access software provider located in my neck of the woods (aka Boston).

So here it goes…

My colleague Jessica Davis provided details about the LogMeIn Central and LogMeIn Pro price increases a few weeks ago, and I put together a slideshow that highlighted some of the remote control software alternatives to these LogMeIn products, too.

To date, many dedicated readers have provided comments and emails about which LogMeIn Central and LogMeIn Pro alternatives they feel work well for their businesses.

And while we’ve already highlighted several LogMeIn Central and LogMeIn Pro alternatives, here’s a few more that deserve to be mentioned:

  • BeAnywhere – BeAnywhere is a cloud computing company that focuses on “advanced remote solutions.” BeAnywhere Support Express, BeAnywhere’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, provides users with remote access and support for Mac and Windows computers.

  • DameWare – DameWare is part of the SolarWinds (SWI) family and lets administrators troubleshoot network problems on Mac, Linux and Windows computers from a single console.

  • Panorama9 – Panorama9 offers “full control over remote servers and computers,” company founder Allan Thorvaldsen said. Panorama9 also has a program for managed service providers (MSPs).

  • ScreenConnect – ScreenConnect is a self-hosted remote access and support solution. It is designed for “everything for the one-man shop up to the enterprise,” according to the company.

  • Splashtop – A Splashtop license provides users with remote access for up to five computers. Additionally, Splashtop boasts more than 15 million users worldwide.

Of course, these are just a few of the LogMeIn Central and LogMeIn Pro alternatives that are available.

So now the question becomes: What are some of the other LogMeIn Central and LogMeIn Pro alternatives that are worth mentioning?
