Netsocket Intros vApps Suite of Third Party Applications

Netsocket is extending the reach of its Netsocket Virtual Edge virtual networking solution by introducing a new suite of third-party applications called vApps. The idea is to enhance existing services already available to managed service providers and their small business and enterprise branch office customers.

Among applications now available in vApp form are FortiGate Advanced Security/Firewall/IDS/IPS, Open VPN, Windows Server 2012 Essentials Software Infrastructure and more.

These new vApps broaden the service catalogue MSPs can offer customers, the company said. Applications, both networking and non-networking, are hosted on the Netsocket’s Virtual Edge MicroCloud Server, a commodity x86 platform. Netsocket said its Virtual Edge solution brings large enterprise-capable routing functions via automated cloud-based deployment to SMB customers of resellers and MSPs. Netsocket’s model enables service providers to add more services for additional recurring revenue streams without the costs of infrastructure build-out. 

Pilot program

Netsocket’s Virtual Edge and vApps are available today and can be deployed via three models of the MicroCloud Server, depending on the requirements for performance and number of applications to be hosted.  For a limited time only, Netsocket is offering a Pilot Kit for evaluation. The Pilot Kit is configured to support one site and consists of the Virtual Edge software suite, a MicroCloud Server, a MicroCloud Switch, a selection of open source vApps, as well as first year software service and support and is priced at $850.
