New, Changing Partner Programs: AWS, Tech Data, Avaya, Verizon
Vendors and distributors thanked partners for their efforts in 2020 and geared up for 2021.

The distributor’s public sector partners can now access an AWS program that will train them in their cloud practices.
AWS in November made its Partner Transformation Program (PTP) available to commercial partners. Tech Data will use DLT Solutions, which it acquired two years ago, to support partners before and after they graduate from the PTP program

AWS is opening up new competencies for verticals like energy and hospitality. The Amazon Partner Network also announced two new programs for ISVs and offered them more marketing resources.

Verizon is bringing its channel programs together.
The company announced the centralization of its channel enablement and operations staff into a single place. That includes wireless- and wireline-focused staff.
In addition, Verizon named Wendy Taccetta as its new channel chief.
“Our mission is clear: to enable improved partner experiences, expand our sales distribution and revenue opportunities through new partnerships and drive incremental solutions to our direct sales customers,” she said.

The cloud-based infrastructure monitoring platform is growing its partner base in EMEA.
LogicMonitor anounced nine new channel partners in Europe and the Middle East. The company noted that partner-driven revenue increased 500% during 2020.

The analytics provider has upped its support for partners.
Alteryx has increased its channel sales team from a handful to more than 30 over the last three years. The company works with VARs to deliver analytic process automation (APA) software.

Avaya recently landed a big name hire for its North American channel.
Mike Coleman spent the last four years leading Samsung Mobility’s North American channel. He’ll now do the same for the cloud communications provider.
A consultant noted that Coleman drove “quarter after quarter” wins with Samsung and will inspire the Avaya team.

D&H Distributing opened a new professional services incentive for partners.
The organization has been building the professional services program for a year, but it recently created a new category for managed services. That joins white glove and integration services and project services.
Technical consultants from the distributor will help partners craft SLAs for the managed services.

A partner executive said the changes help the company’s channel scale upward. Agiloft is targeting international expansion and triple channel revenue growth in 2021.
Agiloft primarily works with resellers and systems integrators.

Channel partners in IT and telecom are enjoying new benefits and opportunities.
Several vendors and distributors announced changes to to their programs as 2020 came to a close. Many of them, like AWS, thanked partners for driving significant growth in a harsh business landscape.
In many instances, the changes included new avenues to revenue. For example, D&H Distributing is helping its partners deliver more professional services, and Tech Data is equipping its partners with an AWS program. Some companies, such as Alteryx, are increasing the size of their field team in order to better support channel partners.
We also covered the telecom channel. Wireless giant Verizon brought its various partner programs together in a historic consolidation. Verizon and Avaya both named high-profile channel leaders last month.
