loopt Social Mapping Service Launches on Sprint Wireless Network
loopt announced its social mapping service is now available to Sprint customers nationwide. loopt uses the GPS capabilities on select Sprint phones to locate and connect with friends. Users can share their locations, send proximity-based messages, receive alerts when a friend is near, and view geo-tagged photos and content onthe- go.
loopt is the only social mapping service that can automatically update the location of everyone in a users private network of friends and display that information directly on a map on the phone, the company says. loopt is 100 percent permission-based and users share location information only with their loopt-friends via private networks. In addition, loopt users can easily turn location-sharing on or off at any time on a friend-by-friend basis. loopt is available on more than 25 Sprint and Nextel phones for $2.99 per month, plus standard data charges. loopt launched on Boost Mobile last November and signed up more than 100,000 customers in its first three months of launch. www.loopt.com, www.sprint.com

Intermec, GATC Introduce Skynax R6 Software
Intermec has collaborated with GATC, a software development company and Intermec Premier Honours Partner, to create Skynax R6, a software-based solution that provides a unified platform for mobile communications, data management, remote device management and security in mobile computing systems. Skynax enables scalable and secure mobile data communications through WWAN mobile phone networks, WLAN, wired Ethernet and dialup connections. Using a distributed, server-based architecture, Skynax allows the exchange of data between mobile business applications and back-office business data repositories located in a companys internal network. Genesys Brings Multimedia Virtual Meetings to iPhones
Genesys, a global multimedia collaboration service provider, has announced it is bringing full virtual meeting capabilities to Apples iPhone. The standards-based AJAX technology of Genesys Meeting Center 4.0 allows users to join a voice and Web meeting through the iPhones Safari browser. Key benefits for iPhone users include real-time collaboration and document sharing with zoom-in and portrait/landscape capabilities. Elias Launches Applists.com to Bring Web Apps to iPhones
Elias Corp. has launched Applists.com, a proprietary patent-pending software built exclusively for iPhone users and third-party Web 2.0 application developers, that allows iPhone users to locate iPhone applications with just a few taps on the screen and store these apps in containers called application lists or applists. iPhone users can create multiple applists for home, work, school, etc., with this free service, and the company promises no ads or gotchas. Synchronica Syncs iPhones to Microsoft Exchange E-Mail
Synchronica plc announced that its Mobile Gateway 3.0 supports over-the-air synchronization between Microsoft Exchange and the Apple iPhone. This will allow mobile operators and service providers to offer mobile synchronization to business users and prosumers, enabling them to receive corporate e-mail on their iPhones without having to ask their IT manager to open the firewall or install additional software.
Mobile Gateway uses Microsofts secure Outlook Web Access to retrieve e-mail from the corporate Exchange server and deliver it directly to the built-in e-mail client of the Apple iPhone. Genisys Software, the SCO Group Release AlphaRENTAL for iPhones
The SCO Group Inc., a provider of UNIX software technology and mobile services, and Genisys Software Inc., a provider of rental and point-of-sale software for the specialty equipment rental market, have announced the availability of the AlphaRENTAL Solution for the iPhone handset. AlphaRENTAL is a mobile workforce automation application used by retail equipment and party rental centers to manage all aspects of their business, including customer relationship management, sales, reservations, quotes, invoicing, receivables, parts, service and rental equipment inventory management.
