Nexus Integration Services , an MSPmentor 100 company in Valencia, CA has been busy leveraging its Cisco VoIP expertise in the managed services market. Nexus Vice President of Managed Services Tom Lyon gave me some background on the effort a few days ago. Here’s the update.

“We developed our base by reselling Cisco VoIP. Then we realized that we were dealing with a lot of data, so we started offering a storage solution. That’s how our managed services offering began,” said Lyon.  Nexus currently has roughly 200 managed services accounts and generated $8 million in FY 2010 on its managed service offering alone. Nexus Technologies Group has technology partnerships with EMC, VMware and is in the process of inking another partnership (we’ll reveal it when it’s official). Lyon made it very clear, regardless of how much Nexus’ managed services arm grows, the company is very appreciative of its roots and values its partnership with Cisco Systems. “We don’t offer anything that competes with Cisco,” he said.

So what’s next for Nexus Integration Services as far as managed services are concerned? The main focus (as you probably guessed) involves cloud services. “We’re trying to see what impact the cloud will have, how will it evolve, and who will be the early adopters,” said Lyon. To that end Nexus Integration Services is constantly discussing the cloud either through stewardship meetings or talks with customer executives.

Each Nexus managed services account as an assigned engineer to help learn more about each client’s needs. “I think it [the cloud] will continue to grow,” Lyon predicted. Nexus Integration Services expects to grow well over 20 percent during FY 2011 as an entire company. So you can expect its managed services offering to expand, and cloud computing solutions to be a potential contributor.
