When Presidio officially announces the buyout of BlueWater Communications Group on February 29, the deal will have cloud computing and managed services written all over it. Here’s why.Presidio is one of Cisco Systems’ largest channel partners. BlueWater has been one of Cisco Systems’ fastest-growing partners. (Cisco, by the way, applauds the Presidio-BlueWater business combination).
According to a prepared statement from Presidio:
“Presidio and BlueWater both deliver innovative, purpose-built solutions that address the entire technology lifecycle and enable significant gains in business performance. Both companies are leaders in unified communications, network infrastructure and data center engineering. Together, the two companies offer a full suite of on-premise and cloud-based managed services offerings associated with those technologies. Both organizations are recognized as elite strategic partners by leading technology providers such as Cisco and EMC.”
Presidio, which employs 2,000 IT professionals, offers a range of managed and cloud services — including Sentry Managed Services, SMART Plus, SMARTnet Optimization, hosted infrastructure and hosted backup and recovery.
BlueWater, meanwhile, has been building out a managed services business practice that offers voice and data monitoring for customer networks across New York. BlueWater CEO Bob Cagnazzi, who shifts to the Presidio CEO slot, explained the BlueWater managed services strategy in this 2009 FastChat Video with MSPmentor:
Both Presidio and BlueWater are VAR500 companies. And I suspect the combined company would rank within the top 20 of our annual MSPmentor 100 survey results.
