Rackspace Updates Hosted Exchange E-Mail Offering
April 12, 2012
OpenStack founder and cloud hosting provider Rackspace (NYSE: RAX) announced the updated version of its Hosted Microsoft Exchange e-mail service, featuring increased mobile capabilities and more e-mail storage, plus collaboration capabilities via Microsoft Sharepoint.
Features of Rackspace’s updated Hosted Exchange Service:
Reliability: Rackspace provides a 100 percent uptime SLA and conducts e-mail back-ups several times a day
Mobile Synchronization: Free ActiveSync solution gives customers the ability to integrate calendars, contacts and tasks with their mobile device
Increased Capacity: Offers 25GB of storage and a maximum mailbox size of 50GB
Collaboration: Provides 1GB of public folder storage and SharePoint with 250MB free storage included
Choice: Customers can mix Microsoft Exchange hosting and Rackspace E-Mail on the same domain for a cost effective solution.
Rackspace offers a migration service at no cost for the first 250 mailboxes, and let’s not forget the company’s “Fanatical Support” program (quite an engaging name).
In March 2012 Rackspace added Andrew Shafer, co-founder of co-founder of Puppet Labs and former VP of Engineering at CloudScaling, to help boost product development marketing at OpenStack. And the month before that, Rackspace bought SharePoint 911, a Miscrosoft consultancy — its first acquisition of 2012.
Coming up next on Rackspace’s dance card is the OpenStack Design Summit, starting April 16 in San Francisco. Talkin’ Cloud will be watching for news on the open source cloud horizon at the conference.
