Ricoh, Benedict College Sign Managed Document Services Deal
August 24, 2011
Here’s a potential next step for companies already providing managed print services: managed document services. For instance Ricoh Americas Corp. has agreed to offer managed document services to Benedict College. The deal covers more than 60 multifunction products (MFPs) throughout the Benedict College campus.
Ricoh will deploy two full-time employees to work alongside one full-time and one part-time Benedict College interns in Benedict College’s on-campus print center in order to meet the managed document needs of the College’s students, faculty and staff. The length of the managed document service contract was not disclosed, but Benedict College President and CEO Dr. David H. Swinton estimates that the campus will save “a quarter of a million dollars during the life of the contract,” with $50,000 of that savings be allocated to what Swinton called “student support.”
“We are excited to embark on this journey with Benedict College to help them drive down their costs, increase access to critical information and improve productivity across the organization, while reducing their environmental footprint,” Ricoh U.S. Vice President of Managed Document Services Terrie Campbell said in a prepared statement.
Ricoh’s approach to managed document services at Benedict College will mirror the company’s approach to its chaMPS Managed Document Services program that it launched in June 2011. Ricoh will assess the technology, people and processes that drive document services at Benedict College and then try to optimize each one to meet the campus’ cost-savings goals by creating what it calls “customized solutions to optimize workflow.”
