Business management software vendor Sage UK has expanded its cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) portfolio for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the UK with an updated version of Sage 200 called Sage 200 v2013.

Sage 200 v2013, which was developed on Microsoft (MSFT) Azure, aims to provide customers with choice of deployment (cloud-based solution or on premise) and payment, the company said.

Customers, including those running the suite on premise, have the choice of paying for the solution up front or through a monthly subscription model.

Sage 200 v2013 also provides automated back ups as part of the package, which the company manages.

Sage UK built the Sage 200 online offering on top of Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure platform, one of many services the company had planned to base on Microsoft's cloud.

The software suite supports businesses up to 250 employees and includes financial management software, customer relationship management (CRM), and business intelligence (BI).
