Speculation: Is Michael Capellas Still CEO of VCE?

Michael Capellas (pictured) is widely known as chairman and CEO of VCE — the virtual computing environment company funded mostly by Cisco Systems and EMC, with some help from Intel and VMware. But if you check the VCE website, the Capellas bio lists him as Chairman — with no mention of the CEO role in his VCE title or VCE biography. Hmmm… It could be a simple oversight on VCE’s part. But The VAR Guy has heard rumors about executive changes and potential staff changes in recent weeks.

Here’s a look at Capellas’s bio on VCE’s website today (Aug. 22, 2011)…

The VAR Guy reached out to VCE’s external PR representative today to determine if Capellas is still CEO. As of this posting (8:12 p.m. eastern, Aug. 22), VCE has not returned with a comment. Moreover, the company last week did not offer a comment when The VAR Guy inquired about potential staffing changes. During that original inquiry last week, a spokeswoman indicated that VCE’s management team was traveling and not available for comment.

Of course: VCE could be humming right along. The VAR Guy has not confirmed any of the alleged staffing changes at the company. And The VAR Guy believes VCE remains a strategic supplier of converged data center solutions. Moreover, Cisco and EMC, in particular, have poured millions into VCE.

Still, VCE’s silence is deafening in some ways. The questions have been simple: Is Capellas still CEO? Have there been staffing changes? So far, there has been no official reply to inquiries from last week and this week…
