State Declines to Pursue Drug Charges Against ConnectWise Co-Founder David Bellini
Bellini's attorney alleges the arresting officer misreported arrest details, which include possession of heroin and fentanyl.
The Hillsborough (Florida) County State’s Attorney’s Office won’t pursue drug charges against ConnectWise co-founder David Bellini, arrested at his home in Tampa on Sunday.
A spokesman at the Hillsborough County Clerk’s Office says the state issued a letter of release for Bellini and the case was closed.
“The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Laboratory confirmed that details relating to Mr. Bellini’s arrest were inaccurately reported by the arresting officer,” said Bellini’s attorney Todd Foster, in a statement. The arrest report states Bellini was in possession of 24.1 grams of heroin and fentanyl at the time he was taken into custody.

Bellini has struggled with chronic pain resulting in abuse of prescription and non-prescription pain medications, according to a statement ConnectWise released Tuesday.
“David has been suffering chronic pain for several years and has unfortunately fallen prey to overuse of these substances, resulting in potential charges — the outcome of which we cannot predict,” read the statement.
Bellini took an indefinite leave of absence from his role as president of ConnectWise International following news reports of his arrest. Greg Lalle, VP of international sales, will continue in his role as the executive sales leader for the division. There has been no statement yet from the company regarding the dropped charges or forthcoming changes to the ConnectWise executive leadership team.
Bellini’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
