SUMMUS Software, an IT service management (ITSM) provider, has officially released the SUMMUS IT management suite. The cloud-based suite — built by veterans of BEA Systems, CA Technologies and Oracle —  is designed to support service management, asset management, availability management and project management. To jump-start demand, SUMMUS is offering a free 30-day trial of the suite to all of its enterprise clients.

We knew SUMMUS had something brewing when the company added three new executive members to its team in early September, 2011.  The new suite, SUMMUS claims, is scalable, customizable and accessible from any Internet-enabled device.

We’re intrigued by the SUMMUS team, which includes Senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Alliances John Giubileo. His previous posts included senior VP and GM of worldwide challenges and alliances at BEA Systems, the middleware software company that Oracle ultimately acquired.

The big question: Is there room in the IT service management market for yet another upstart promoting a cloud platform and a service desk? MSPmentor will be watching.
