Sungard Availability Services has launched a managed service that will help customers more easily move to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The disaster-recovery provider on Wednesday announced “Managed Cloud – Amazon Web Services,” which aims to simplify the cloud-migration process.

The company says the managed services use a programmatic strategy to automate the environment and securely configure new accounts. Sungard AS Chief Technology Officer Josh Crowe says AWS has led a major transformation in programmable infrastructure.

“Through that change, customers continue to look to us to help solve their infrastructure challenges across their existing estate of systems and hyperscale clouds,” Crowe said. “We provide them with the tools and expertise to deploy their new apps and migrate existing workloads onto AWS so they can focus their attention on their core business.”

Sungard AS wrote in its announcement that the new offering will accommodate complex environments — understanding that many businesses have multiple clouds. The managed services can work inside Sungard’s data centers and customer sites as well as within AWS.

“Customers are looking for a partner to help them across their entire IT deployment,” Crowe said. “Not all applications are ready to move to the cloud, so most companies find themselves in a hybrid IT environment. Sungard AS has the expertise to help companies determine the right course of action for each application and create a robust, available and recoverable infrastructure for both cloud and legacy applications.”

Customers in the U.S., Canada and Europe can access the managed cloud service.
