SysCloud has raised $2.5 million in funding for its data backup and security suite, a set of tools that provides channel partners with additional protection for data located in Google Apps through real-time backups, insights and security policies.

Inventus Capital Partners led the Series A financing round, with participation from existing investor, KAE Capital. The additional funds bring the company’s total funding to date to $3.5 million.

The Cranford, New Jersey-based backup and disaster recovery solutions provider on Tuesday said it will use the funding to expand sales and marketing efforts, scale current operations and accelerate development for continued product innovation.

SysCloud CEO Vijay Krishna said the company will acquire future financing through venture capital funds or strategic investment from large traditional software vendors.

SysCloud currently supports Google Apps, but the company has plans to support all major clouds — including Office 365, Box, Dropbox, Salesforce, NetSuite, Zendesk, ServiceNow, JIRA and Workday — he told Talkin’ Cloud.

“Customers want a single pane of glass to backup and secure their data across all cloud applications,” Krishna said. “We are integrating support for multiple cloud sharing and collaboration tools into our core platform in order to allow customers to manage users and policies across applications, along with aggregated insights and reports.”
