Top Google Apps Authorized Resellers — including Cloud Sherpas, Dito, Onix, Intelligence Partner and Promevo — now promote Google Chromebooks to their customers. How many cloud-centric notebooks will the companies sell? The VAR Guy doesn’t know. But here’s the important part…
…Google’s (GOOG) partners appear proud to promote the low-cost cloud computers on their websites. And those partners are gaining more and more power in the IT channel. In fact, each of the Google Apps resellers listed above now ranks among the world’s Top 100 Cloud Services Providers, according to a third-annual Talkin’ Cloud research report that will debut July 30, 2013.
A growing number of the Google partners have now pushed into Salesforce.com integration projects — though Cloud Sherpas claims to be leading the way on that front.
As part of a Google Apps deployment, many partners recommend Chromebooks as natural end-points for the cloud effort. Retailers like Best Buy, WalMart and Staples also now carry Chromebooks.
The VAR Guy has been using a Chromebook for about six months now, and has been genuinely impressed with its capabilities. Our resident blogger also continues to use full-blown PCs and Macs for video editing. But aside from that one application, Chromebooks seem powerful enough for basic day-to-day business productivity and communications.
No doubt, Chromebook sales are climbing — but exact numbers are hard to come by. Keep watching this niche, folks. Because The VAR Guy suspects Google Apps resellers will be announcing larger Chromebook rollouts before the Fall 2013 college academic season kicks off…
