The new solution takes Veeam Backup & Replication software and layers it on to ExaGrid’s appliance to create a super-fast way to recover VMs. What makes this solution different is ExaGrid recovery is performed using the ExaGrid “landing zone” technology on the appliance. The “landing zone” is a super-fast chunk of cache holding the latest backup, which the Veeam Backup & Replication software accesses fully to enable an “instant” recovery of the VM, according to the companies. This design is designed to be more efficient than the traditional method of recalling and rebuilding a deduplicated backup of the VM.

The new partnership isn’t a spontaneous bonding of the two companies’ products but the fruit of a year-long collaboration between both systems.
